The Emulex family of LP10000/1050 Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) offers highly integrated 2Gb/s Fibre Channel connectivity solutions for enterprise and midrange class storage area networks (SANs). The LP1005DC is a new member of the LP10000/1050 family. Using IBM "Open BladeCenter Design Specifications", the LP1005DC was specifically designed for use in the IBM BladeCenter. The LP1005DC HBA delivers state of the art performance through the use of Thor, Emulex sixth generation Fibre Channel controller and is available in a custom form factor. Blade Servers offer a broad range of networking options integrated into the chassis to simplify infrastructure complexity and manageability while lowering total cost of ownership.

They are excellent platforms for commerce, database, and ERP/CRM applications, as well next-generation network and Fibre channel applications requiring high performance and scalability. The LP1005DC, like all Emulex adapters is designed to meet the demands of these environments. The Blade architecture allows the LP1005DC to use the same drivers and management tools as the LP10000/1050 HBAs for PCI, PCI-X, and PCIe systems. Emulex unique Service Level Interface (SLI) driver architecture, which enables the independence of the operating systems device driver from the underlying HBA platform, will allow OEMs and end users to migrate to this new system architecture seamlessly (without having to change or rewrite drivers utilities and other management tools). Emulex firmware-based architecture, which allows for new features and other upgrades without costly changes to the adapter hardware, provides the kind of technical flexibility and investment protection that is critical when working with new and evolving technology. The Emulex LP1005DC is qualified for use with the IBM HS20 and HS40 BladeCenter products.
