The Exabyte Magnum 224 (LTO) Tape Library easily scales on demand from a 1x12 autoloader to a 2x24 library, with a choice of one or two half-high LTO-2 drives or a single full-height LTO-3 drive making it the industry s first true LTO entry-level SMB/departmental tape library. The Magnum 224 (LTO) Tape Library is designed with Capacity on Demand offering customers the opportunity to easily upgrade their capacity by purchasing another 12-slot cartridge magazine doubling cartridge capacity, adding another LTO-2 drive or by upgrading to an LTO-3 drive and doubling or tripling capacity depending on magazine configuration. An LTO-2 12-slot Magnum 224 has 2.4 TB native and 4.8 TB when fully populated to 24 slots, while the LTO-3 12-slot Magnum 224 offers 4.8 TB native and 9.6 TB when fully populated to 24 slots.

The Magnum 224 is available in two configurations depending on choice of LTO drive: either a single LTO-2 half high drive and empty bay for a second LTO-2 half high drive, or a single LTO-3 full high drive. Both configurations include a single 12-cartridge magazine with an Import/Export port. Available accessories include customer installable LTO-2 half high drives and 12-cartridge magazines that expand total capacity to 24 cartridges. Total native storage capacity ranges from 2.4 TB to 9.6 TB. Native data transfer rates range from 86.4 GBs per hour with a single LTO-2 half high drive to 172.8 GBs per hour with two LTO-2 half high drives to 288 GBs per hour with a single LTO-3 full high drive.
