This Exatape 150m Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) 8mm data cartridge with SmartClean is designed for use with Exabyte"s Mammoth-2 tape drives and libraries. For reliable data storage, the quality of your media is every bit as important as the quality of your tape drive. Designed specifically for Mammoth-2 tape drives, Exabyte"s AME tapes are non abrasive, vertically aligned and do not have binder components. AME media with SmartClean gives the M2 drive automatic cleaning capability that eliminates the need for separate cleaning cartridges. Each cartridge with Exabyte"s SmartClean technology contains a 2-meter length of cleaning material. A sophisticated monitoring system built into the M2 drive determines when it"s time to clean and performs cleanings automatically.

SmartClean safely removes tape lubricant staining without causing head wear. Cleanings take place at the right time: when they are needed and won"t impact tape operations.
