The 3480 series 18 track M2483B/BD (rackmount) tape drive and the 3480 series 18 track 2485B/BD/B1/BD1 (desktop) tape drives are half inch cartridge tape drives with 3480, 3490 compatibility, offering leading mainframe technology for data interchange and backup to workstations and other advanced computer platforms.

- Supported by Fujitsu"s enhanced data recording capability EDRC), the data recording method is compatible with IBM"s improved data recording capability (IDRC)
